God’s Handiwork
by Brenda Northway
I’d like to share with everyone how I personally have been touched by World Prayr as well as how I am always learning.
I joined the World Prayr team back in early 2009, and began moderating and tweeting Bible verses/prayers/songs and reaching out to pray for and encourage those in need of someone to listen and offer support.
I loved doing that. There were a large number of us “prayer warriors”, so at times when the situation called for it we would post a tweet something like, “Prayer warriors needed.. Brenda has been in a car accident. Prayer needed” then other team members would see this and start re-tweeting it as well as praying.
There were some that reached out to me as I was new. They offered prayer support and for one reason or another some of us exchanged phone numbers in case we needed schedule changes. Well fast forward to Oct 09 my niece had a baby boy and it turned out he was born with a congenital heart defect and needed open heart surgery and taken by plane to a bigger hospital.
Having lost a son myself at 7 months of age my PTSD kicked in to high gear and I immediately posted a tweet, “Prayer warriors needed my baby nephew is in trouble!” The tweets immediately started going out asking for prayer. What touched me the most was the phone call I got from one of the prayer warriors.
Through all my tears I explained what was wrong and she said “call me anytime” over the next several weeks I kept updates as best I could. They were not happy updates as my great nephew was in the fight of his life. Sadly at 6 weeks old Jacob lost his fight and went to join Jesus.
One of the prayer warriors called me and asked to pray with me for Jacob. She prayed.. Lord did she pray.. asking that I find peace and understanding.
Later in 2010, I got a call that again set my PTSD into a mad rage. My cousin’s wife had been in a car wreck and all 3 of their little girls were killed in the accident.
I asked, “Lord, I know you don’t give me more than I can handle but I’m beginning to wonder just how much more I can take?”
Well then, I had another wonderful prayer warrior tell me about a verse in Ephesians. The verse was Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
As we talked about the verse she explained that at this moment I was in shock and that basically the events of my past though painful, were to help me get my niece and cousin through the loss of their children and to help others.
Ephesians 2:10 is now my “Lifeverse”. I am so blessed to be a part of such an amazing team and I am always learning something new.
You are never alone, when you are part of the World Prayr family.. and we are like one BIG family.
You too would be blessed to join our team of prayer warriors. If we can answer any questions for you or you just want to talk with someone send a note to serve@worldprayr.org
